Been a While

Hey Everyone - I know it's been a while since my last post - and I apologize for that. The reason It has been so long is because I have been out working with some local sports teams. I have been asked by the Seattle Mist to do some video promotions for them. I did their new website intro, their try-outs, and later on I will be doing more for the team. As will be my tradition I will post the content here first before youtube just for my loyal followers. Also I have been working with the Kent Predators. The latest project I am working on with them is a video for their dance team. The Predators Season is already underway but they need to attract more people out to their games, while the Mist will be starting their season this summer. Well Let me know what you think of these projects so far and next week I will post the finished products for both the Mist and the Predators.

You have no idea

Last night my wife treated me to dinner and a movie. It was actually kinda nice, although it cut into my normal routine of Wednesday night basketball at the YMCA. After a very dissatisfying meal at a steakhouse that shall remain un-named, but it was somewhere (out back). We went to the IMAX theatre at Southcenter mall. after finally deciding on "I Am Number 4" we settled into our seats and the 20 minutes of previews began. I rather enjoyed them because I know if I will have something to look forward to during the summer movie season, and I am happy to say that I am very excited.
So anyway as we were watching the movie, I began to realize something. This movie is much like how we are in Seattle. So the movie was about these aliens that were trying to blend in and hide out from the other aliens who were hunting them down. The ones hiding out had special skills and were the last of their kind. So the outlaw aliens were trying to hunt them down one by one to completely kill off the race. It's funny because I believe that there are so many gifted and specially talented people right here in Seattle. The thing is the aliens could never settle in any one place because they were constantly running from the outlaws. They would find a place and have to run in order to keep from getting killed. Apparently they decided at some point that it was better that they split up and not stick together. It could have helped them blend in better, it could have done a lot of things, but what they didn't realize is that they were not nearly as strong apart as they were together. So finally the main character decided that he was done running. It was time to stand and fight. Once he made that decision another of the aliens showed up just in time to help him defeat the outlaws and start their mission to unite with the rest of their people. We have to realize that we are so much stronger and much more powerful together than we are separated and spread out all throughout this country. One line in the movie that stood out was "You have no idea what you are capable of." and I completely agree. We have no idea. Motown started off in a small house in Detroit. With the best singers and musicians in Detroit, and grew into a legendary family. Seattle has equally talented singers, musicians and plenty of houses.

New Beginning

I woke up this morning as I have for the past couple days thinking about this new blog. Wondering what in the world am I going to write about, what will be the main content of this site? And as I was drinking my morning tea it came to me. Maybe it was the Chai Green Tea, or maybe it was the smooth sounds of Bob James Jazz playing in the background. Whatever it was I all of a sudden knew that I needed to shed a light on the entertainment scene in Seattle. There is always something going on up here but most people never associate Seattle, with entertainment. True we are behind the times when it comes to music releases, unless you have a satellite radio that is.
Over the past few years I have had so many conversations with people about the culture of music, and why is it that when someone starts to make it in Seattle they feel they need to move to Dallas, Nashville, New York, or LA to really make it. Same thing with film, and dance, every other artistic expression. We are home to some of the most beautiful landscape in the entire world. Inspiration is all around us. And record labels will tell you that Seattle is one of the untapped markets in the country. So why leave? Actors who leave for the lights and glamour of LA do realize that everyone is running there. Here, the good ones stand out, rather than getting lost in the crowd. Models, what better place can you be than in the great Pacific Northwest. Photographers can take you from a beautiful island retreat to snow capped mountains to the exciting city life all in a matter of minutes. Musicians, there are clubs, bars, and venues like the Triple Door, Showare center, and Key Arena. The world renowned EMP is right here and open everyday. Outdoor concerts on the waterfront are second to none. We have some of the best music producers, musicians, recording studios and vocalists in the world. So again I ask you, Why leave? Perception. We have been told that it's ok to get your start here, but to make it you need to go somewhere else. When you leave do you not realize that there is a younger generation that has to start all over. There is no one to follow in the footsteps of, except the ones of those leading out of town. Some of the greatest stars in all of entertainment were either born here or got their start right here. People like - Bob Barker, Josie Bissett, Dale Chihuly, Kurt Cobain, Fred Couples, John Elway, Kenny G, Jimi Hendrix, Kenny Loggins, Janis Page, John Stockton, and Blair Underwood just to name a few. All i am saying is that Seattle has a great climate and unknown history of entertainment. So This blog "Whats up Seattle" will explore the industry. We will have our finger on the pulse of whats going on in entertainment and bring it to you. We will ask thought provoking questions, and solicit your input. At times we will have special guest interviews with photos and videos of whats going on in our area. Hit me up if there is something specific you want to hear about, and I'll do my best to bring it to you. Thank you for checking out my blog and I look forward to your feedback and participation.
